Kobi Borrows a Pouch, An Aussie Koala Adventure Review

Kobi Borrows a Pouch, An Aussie Koala Adventure

by Margot Finke

Illustrated by Agy Wilson

Margot Finke’s new picture book, "Kobi Borrows a Pouch," beautifully illustrated by Agy Wilson, is a lovely, sweet Aussie Koala Adventure. Little Kobi is getting too big to be carried around by his mother and he also wants his own gum tree. When his mother takes a nap, young Kobi heads out on his own to see what he can find. He’s on a real adventure in the wilds of the outback bush. Kobi meets a lot of cool Aussie critters—some who scare him and others who help him—especially a kindly mother kangaroo. Kobi needs some help gaining his Aussie “bush smarts.” You’ll have to get the book to find out how it all turns out and what he learns from his travels—lessons we can all relate to.

Agy Wilson’s gorgeous artwork brings Kobi’s story to vivid life. It’s all there—the Aussie animals’ feelings and personalities, plus the wild look of the exotic Australian bush. It’s truly a feast for our eyes—young and old.

In addition to the charming story and the awesome illustrations, there’s plenty for children to learn in this little book. Ms. Finke has included information at the back of the book such as a list of Koala Bush Smarts, facts about Koalas, an Aussie Vocabulary Word Glossary, a description of unique Aussie animals that Kobi meets while on his adventure, and an Aussie word puzzle.

Kobi Borrows a Pouch is highly recommended for ages 5 to 8, for school and classroom libraries. It is available in print, Ebook, and Kindle formats.
