Colby Mouse’s Christmas Gift
by Barbara Bockman
illustrated by K.C. Snider

“Colby Mouse’s Christmas Gift,” by Barbara Bockman, illustrated by K.C. Snider, is a lovely addition to children’s Christmas picture books. Colby the mouse lives with Becky’s family. It’s Christmas Eve when Daddy brings home the Christmas tree to decorate. Colby watches as the family decorates the tree. Mommy lights the candles and places their presents under the tree. Together they read the story of the first Christmas about gifts for Baby Jesus. Then it’s time for bed. Daddy leaves cookies and milk for Santa and some cheese to catch Colby. In the morning, the family sees a surprise—a gift from Colby.

K.C. Snider’s beautiful artwork enriches Ms. Bockman’s sweet, tender story. Each scene is a feast for the eyes. The words convey a simple message—we all have gifts we can give in the spirit of Christmas. Highly recommended for ages 4 to 7. #PB
